FAQ
When this happens it's known as 'Tunnelling'. This is when only the wax around the wick melts and burns down. This is usually caused by the timing of first burn of the candle. Your candle should be left on long enough for the melted wax to reach the sides of the jar.
Ideally a candle shouldn't be left to burn itself out. A candle should only be burned for a maximum of 3-4 hours a one time. As it gets nearer the end of the candle, it should be extinguished when it has 1cm of wax remaining at the base. This will prevent the glass becoming too hot and possibly cracking.
Our candles are handmade using 100% soy wax and blended with premium fragrance oil sourced from a top rated fragrance house.
With all candles, the first burn is very important. Candles should burn for 1 hour for every inch in diameter of the candle size. A standard 30cl candle should be left to burn for 3 hours minimum to ensure a full melt pool is achieved.
Each candle, wax melt or diffuser, is made in our home in Aberdeen. Candles hand poured in very small batches, ready to be packed and sent to their new homes.
Soy wax is made from soya beans, this is renewable source. It gives a cleaner, longer lasting, less soot producing candle. Paraffin wax is refined from crude oil.
If burned in the way advised our travel candle should last 10 hours. Our single wick candle should burn for 40 hours and our 3 wick candle should last for 60 hours. All of this depends on where you burn the candle and if you follow the advice given.
